Undisclosed Seklerland (Szekelyfold) - A one day trip in traditional Seklerland

The program is aimed at leading our guest into the traditional and largely undisclosed way of life of the inhabitants of Seklerland / Szekelyfold. Seclerland (Székelyföld) is an island of Hungarian speaking population in the geographical center of Romania, with a distinct culture and traditions, mostly unchanged during the centuries.

Itinerary:
In Praid (Parajd) the participants will visit the Salt Mine, one of the most important natural treasures of the area. In the large underground halls a church, a playground and a library are maintained for the visitors, who would like to spend more time here.

Lunch will be served in Praid at noon.

Next location to be visited on our roadmap is Criºeni (Korispatak), where we can have an insight in the centuries old occupation of the inhabitants of this small village, the manufacturing of straw-hats. Here we will also visit the straw-hat museum. While driving to Criºeni we will see along the way, a "monument" of Romanian Communism, a church tower standing out from the middle of a lake, a belonging to a village flooded by the communists in order to make an artificial lake on it's place.

Our next stop is in the area of Lupeni (Farkaslaka), where we make a short stop to observe work of the charcoal-burners, a very traditional and special occupation of the people from this village.

Last stop is Énlaka, a well hidden Sekler village, which due to its remoteness has preserved its architectural and cultural heritage in its original form, dating back to the fourteenth century. Following a walk on the narrow streets of the village, and after serving a traditional snack, we can visit the only buffalo farm of Seklerland.

From Énlaka the participants will be transported back to Odorhei, where they are invited to participate on a traditional Székely evening, with traditional food being served and folk music played by a well known local Gypsy folk-band
